Three Week Workshop from 2nd June, 2016 for Children and Youth to Discover and Transform in a Fun way with Global SDG Learning: Topics - Climate change, Biodiversity, Water, Energy

One-Day International Workshop on Best Practices in Waste Management and Climate Change, 19th August, 2015

 

HaritaDhara Research Development and Education Foundation (HRDEF), and Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU), Dehradun jointly organized the one day international workshop on Best Practices in Waste Management and Climate Change on 19th Aug., 2015. This workshop acquainted stakeholders about techniques and practices so that they can act as change agent towards climate change and sustainable development. Every stakeholders and experts from academics, industry, NPO, government, and students using social action, data collection, and ICT can improve community and our cities. As per GoI’s draft documents 2015 containing rules on SWM, e-waste, Plastic, Biodegradable, and Hazardous waste, we know garbage is one of the biggest problems of our cities. We are very indifferent to these issues and reluctant to act on which result in exaggeration of the waste around us. Thus with increase in waste and rise of heap at landfills lead to GHG emission which cause climate change. To discourse on these various initiatives are taken such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Further, with modified rules and regulations for each one we need to address and indulge through waste segregation at source, composting and other recommended practices. Everyone efforts will result in waste minimization. This will lead to clean, green, smart Doon and Uttarakhand. Prof. (Dr.) P. K. Garg, Vice Chancellor, UTU, Dehradun was Chief Guest and Mr. Steve Kostoff Guest of Honor of the workshop. Prof. (Dr.) P. K. Garg gave emphasis on zero waste management practices, and 4’R. He also stressed on education and awareness of issues affecting our environment.

 

Mr. Omendra Srivastava, SWM Expert, UUSDIP (ADB), Urban Development Department, GoUK  told about Waste to Energy…an approach towards sustainable waste management practices especially Gasification project to be implemented in Roorkee, first of its kind in India. Mr. Steve Kostoff, CEO, Green Business and Audit Training, South Australia focused on Climate Change and Waste Management, Mr. Sanjay Aggarwal, CEO, Clover Organic Pvt. Ltd. told various techniques on Organic Waste Management and Composting, Dr. Bhavtosh Sharma, Scientist (Chemical Sciences), USERC, DST, GoUK told about Pollutants in Drinking Water and their Assessment, Ms. Jodie Underhill, Co-Founder & CEO, Waste Warriors discussed about her initiative on waste management, and Er. Anant Bhakar Garg, Director, HRDEF informed ways to better manage e-Waste. He informed about various initiatives of the HRDEF on sustainability, computing education to underserved students. The workshop provided interactive dialogue between participants and various issues are further discussed during session. It is like sharing their experiences among all present in the workshop. Opinion of the participants and workshop findings will be submitted to government and other authorities for consideration. Directors, faculty members, students, and professionals from Industries in Uttarakhand participated in the workshop.  Participants from outside Uttarakhand such as Moradabad, Bareilly, Bijnor attended the workshop. Venue of the workshop was New Campus, Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

Workshop on Educating for Innovation and Sustainability (24 April, 2015) -  by Paul Bana (23 Apr. - 24 Apr., 2015) 

At the heart of this workshop lie the concepts of Collaborative Inquiry, Learning Organisation and Action Learning. Developed in the mid twentieth century to facilitate innovative thinking and transformational change, Action Learning is used today around the world to develop personal leadership skills and to help individuals and organisations in dealing with unprecedented changes. This program delivered in partnership with Green Business Audit & Training and ALGAIA Project, Australia.

 

Workshop on Carbon Footprints (31 Oct., 2014)

Conducted workshop for home and business users, and professionals for assessment of carbon footprint and introduction to sustainability with support from Green Business Audit & Training and Algaia Project, Australia and Mr. Paul Bana as Speaker.

     

Lectures and Talks

Anant Bhaskar Garg delivered three lectures on ICT and Climate Change at Govt. Polytechnic, Sahiya, Block Kalsi to students and nearby villagers, visited Udaplta village to interact with tribal people and gather local information on 16-17 Sep., 2015
